Dear patients,
The FDA has officially approved the use of the Pfizer vaccine for kids/teens 12 years and older! This is amazing news — finally, light at the end of the tunnel — and we’re pleased to have so many patients interested in getting their vaccine at West End Peds.
We have applied for a license to carry COVID vaccines. As a heads up, we are currently unable to hold the Pfizer vaccine, as it needs to be stored in a specific type of deep freezer that small pediatric offices such as ours don’t usually carry. With this in mind, if you’d like to have your child vaccinated as soon as possible, we highly recommend scheduling an appointment at Children’s Hospital at the following link:
https://childrensnational.formstack.com/forms/vaccine_waitlist.
(If the online form prompts you for a reason, you can click ‘referred for vaccine by physician’.)
We do anticipate receiving the Moderna or J&J vaccines when those are approved for kids and teenagers. Please bear with us through this unprecedented moment — we will send out a mass email to all our parents when we know more about when we expect to receive those shots. In the meantime, we do urge you to schedule your kids to have their vaccines done at Children’s — let’s get vaccinated, stay safe, and get back to life in the DMV!
All the best,
Dr. Ariza & the West End Peds Team
